“Let’s build people”. The programs of the Adina Foundation change communities in Dolj

Let’s build people. Let’s build people. People who, on the basis of integrated educational support, can develop their skills and competences from kindergarten to entering the labor market. With this mission, the Adina Foundation set out 15 years ago, creating integrated programs, activities for children, young people and vulnerable families from the rural areas of Dolj county.

Youth and women from vulnerable groups, helped to find their own way

Thus, the strategy thought up 15 years ago and applied over time led to the realization of projects with a strong impact in the community, concluded now, in 2023, through the implementation of the V13 and Empo programs, through which young people and women from vulnerable groups participated to various activities and advocacy courses, thus learning to take a stand, have a voice and be heard. Helped and supported to find their own way. Learning, in fact, that they matter too. That through education and information they can successfully prepare for the career that each of them wants to pursue, without losing opportunities.

The Adina Foundation only runs educational programs aimed at facilitating access to education, improving skills and developing the personality of children and young people from disadvantaged families in rural areas of Dolj County.

The echo of the programs in the community

The results appeared over time: the reduction of school dropout in partner schools, the increase in participation in the higher education system, the increase in the involvement and efforts of rural volunteers in our projects.

Part of the project (V13) addressed 65 young people aged between 13-24 years from the communes of Fărcaș, Goiești, Șimnicu de Sus in Dolj county, involving them in activities aimed at developing the attitudes and skills needed as students , colleagues, employees and active members in the community, including implementing a new model that combines social support with activation through precise actions.

The other side (Empo) led to the increase in the active participation of at least 41 women from the communes of Fărcaș, Goiești, Șimnicu de Sus, from Dolj county, in activities to develop the necessary skills and abilities as parents, employees and active members in the community, through implementing a new model of reconciling professional life with social/family life.

The impact of the project was not limited to the beneficiaries

The project ended with a study that identified and outlined the impact of the activities carried out by the Adina Stiftelsen Foundation within the project. The study, which was carried out by applying a questionnaire to a sample of 165 respondents, showed that the impact of the project is positive not only among the beneficiaries, but also among the people with whom they interact frequently.

The project “From Pupil To Employee: Advocacy and Training for Youth and Women at Risk in Dolj county” is carried out by the Adina Stiftelsen Foundation in partnership with Adina Stiftelsen Bergen and Stiftelsen Kirkens Bymisjon Bergen, with the financial support of Active Citizens Fund Romania.
